About this place
Washizukami’s signature mackerel and pork, simmered in a large pot, is an appealing place to start. It is served with pork belly, mackerel and daikon, topped with spring onion and pickled ginger—a dish made for sharing over drinks. The “Ganguro Egg Potato Salad”, made with an egg from the same pot, has also been praised for its rich seasoning and the dense, creamy texture of taro mixed in with the potato. Alongside the simmered dish, it offers a satisfying contrast in texture as well as flavours that pair well with a drink.
One diner also singled out the scallops stir-fried with tomato, a tempting option for anyone looking to try something beyond the simmered dishes. Other reported highlights include vegetables served as an appetiser, which one diner enjoyed, and the braised pork in the “Washizukami Set”.
The drinks list offers options to match with the food. Among the sake selections are Midorikawa, described as full of umami and a good match for izakaya dishes, and Tenbu, noted for its balance of sweetness and acidity. Shochu is also available, including the barley shochu Furusawa, suggested with yodare chicken. Washizukami serves diners on the premises in Sangenjaya. It is listed as open daily from 17:00 until 2:00 the following day.
